I use the Mayflower since 1982. It stayed open even when Israel laid siege to West-Beirut and throughout the civil war. I remember the old days with Abu George. I come to Beirut every year and would not use any other hotel. It is a question of loyalty. But beyond that the location is excellent. It couldn't be better. In the midst of Hamra. The price for a hotel room is fair. I use room 103 and it is excellent for me and my wife. Everything works well. The people who work in the hotel are very nice. I did not come to Beirut to go to the beach, but to visit friends. There is a question below about Ramlet al Baida. If I would want to swim in the sea I would go to the Sporting Club. It is in walking distance from the Mayflower. It doesn't have a beach, but is situated on the rocks. I haven't been there for a while, so I would not be able to comment about its present state. It is not that far from Pigeon Rock. I loved to dive in the sea from the rocks and from the roof of the Sporting Club. A brilliant place to swim in the sea. But it was a long time ago in the 1980s. I cannot tell how the Sporting Club is anno 2023 and how clean the sea is at present.

Pretty good location in the Hamra neighborhood where you find many restaurants and shops. I have a six nights stay at this hotel, friendly staff, and I was able to check in early as my room was ready. The wifi is somehow not the best, but sometimes good. Although electricity falls a few times during the day and night I even panicking as I was at the elevator when it happens, but it didn’t take long they seem to have a generator backup. As for room the room price it’s worth it, whereas hotel prices in Beirut are so expensive. The trick here is to book a room far in advance if you plan a trip Lebanon. I book my room six months before the trip. And it wasn’t really expensive, I pay for 6 nights 270 USD including tax. Nice spacious room as well the bathroom. I have a balcony facing to the street. At the rooftop is a tiny swimming pool looks like a joke. The only good thing is the view or if someone likes sunbathing.

Mayflower is a lovely, family run hotel and the owners and staff are beyond friendly and welcoming. They are always happy to help and lovely people from the reception staff, bar staff, cleaners and the owners who always have time to say hello. I highly recommend the trips which are great value for money, and the driver is the very best. The breakfast is exceptional, a choice of Lebanese, English or Continental and a relaxed dining atmosphere and the location in Hamra, close to the sea is unbeatable. The rooftop swimming pool is a great way to relax and to cool down. Near local facilities and has a great bar, The Wellington. An amazing hotel and I will be very happy to return

Mayflower Hotel is in Hamra, two blocks away from Hamra Street, in an area with many hotels, restaurants and shops. I was first given a lavish apartment but after the first night I got moved to another room because of renovation works in an adjacent room. The second room was one of the biggest I've ever stayed in, with all kinds of furniture but still with plenty of free space. PS There is a Syrian-run falafel shop 50m from the hotel on the opposite side. Better than any other falafel I've had a dirt cheap. In front of the hotel, obliquely at about 20m, there is an alcohol shop selling cold beer.

I have been in this hotel many times. The reason why I always stay there is for sentimental reason. It was one of the very few hotels open in West_Beirut during Israel's siege of 1982. In appreciation for that alone it is my hotel to stay in, when I am in Beirut. Another big plus of the Mayflower is that it is in the heart of Hamra district and a short walk from the campus of the American University of Beirut. A third good point is the Duke of Wellington pub, the best place to get draft beer or a refreshing gin tonic. A fourth good point is that room prices are very reasonable.
